Write like nobody is watching

e54444Amongst of all the beautiful things in life, it’s incredible that whats between those quotation marks got me to start typing again*. I am leaving behind all my intention of long perfect content pieces, and focus on greasing my writing process.

This is the only way for me to produce the better of my writing going forward.

Ps. I am picking up an old device called “morning pages**” to start tapping, typing and seeing on a regular basis. It will be interesting to see what I will find-out about myself.

Notes:

*   Thanks to John for the motivation.

Led Zeppelin’s (?) Stairway to Heaven

Led Zeppelin Is Getting Sued Over ‘Stairway to Heaven’

But what if those opening notes weren’t actually written by Jimmy Page or any member of Led Zeppelin? What if the foundation of the band’s immortality had been lifted from another song by a relatively forgotten California band?

You’d need to rewrite the history of rock ’n’ roll.

Yes, yes… biggest sham of the entire history… Regardless my lack of faith to rumours, and what is yet to come out of that courtroom (Led Zeppelin Is Getting Sued Over ‘Stairway to Heaven’). Over the course of their career, Zeppelin has proven the breadth of their creativity with exceptional work.

This will register a blind statement, but I raise and eyebrow to the genuineness of claims made after 50 years.

A love letter to Twitter >> adieu by Douglas Bowman

As a Twitter user, I have witnessed this simple communications tool used to help unlock long-locked doors, to promote cultural awareness and sensitivity, to tear down walls of oppression, to alter the way businesses attend and respond to customers, to connect people in ways never before thought possible, and to democratize the creation and flow of information around the world. I have met and interacted with so many incredible people because of Twitter.

Original love letter.

For all the reasons above and more, I love Twitter.

Why We’ll Never Meet Aliens

Mind blown.

“Twenty years ago if I asked you how many feet were in a mile (and you didn’t know) you could go to a library and look it up. Ten years ago, you could go to a computer and google it. Today, you can literally ask your phone. It’s not a stretch at all with the advent of wearable computing that coming soon – I can ask you that question and you’ll instantly answer. … How would you change if you had instant brain-level access to all information. How would you change if you were twice as smart as you are now. How about ten times as smart? (Don’t answer, truth is, you’re not smart enough to know). Now, let’s leap ahead and think about what that looks like in 100 years. Or 1000. Or whenever it is you’ll think we’d have the technology to travel to another solar system. We’d be a scant remnant of what a human looks like today. … The question of why aliens might ‘want to come here’ is probably fundamentally flawed because we are forming that question from our current (tiny) viewpoint. The word ‘want’ might not apply at all to someone 1000 times smarter than us.”

“Either, not both” by Seth Godin

Stand out or fit in.

Not all the time, and never at the same time, but it’s always a choice.

Those that choose to fit in should expect to avoid criticism (and be ignored). That that stand out should expect neither.

Beautifully written by Seth Godin. And all that is justified for the goal of leaving a mark, a snail also does that. Can you?
